Pingback: Cover of Planet Stories (Fall, 1948) and TV Adaptation of “Mars is Heaven!” |
I remember reading this is some short story collection or another when I was young, probably around 10 years old, and it scared the hell out of me. This adaptation illustrated by Wood is pretty effective. Both the original and the comic book rely on the premise of what you can’t see is actually more scary. You don’t know exactly what happens to the astronauts at the end, and so your imagination starts coming up with all sorts of possibilities that a much more horrific than anything Bradbury could have written, or Wood could have drawn.
