Chuck Close says in our trusty art history book that he paints his monumental portraits with just a couple tablespoons of paint. Come on, art history book! Don’t just throw something like that out there and not give us the scoop. Alas, the book says nothing else about technique and method, merely pausing to ponder what it might all mean.
