Humanity always had a special relationship with the planets. We lived on one we could never see all at once, while others appeared only as colored lights tracing slow curves across the sky. Onto them, our ancestors projected their own stories, dreams, hopes, and fears.
With the invention of the telescope, we began to see them as they really were – not fables or fantasies, but incredible worlds with alien landscapes. Then, they stirred a new sense of wonder in us, a wonder that only grows as we visit the moon and our neighbor Mars. Remote and distant, they still spark our imaginations and stories as far away places do.
