You know we love the Moore/Bissette/Totleben/Veitch Swamp Thing as much as we’ve loved any comic-book story. And hats off to the original Wein/Wrightson Swamp Thing. But Nestor Redondo doesn’t get enough credit for his artwork on issues #11-23 of the first volume of Swamp Thing. To celebrate Nestor Redondo, we present for your viewing pleasure three awe-inspiring splash panels from his Swamp Thing days: mutant swamp worms, giant frogs and snakes, and even a giant ant. Yes!
Collector’s Guide: From Swamp Thing volume 1. Scripts by Len Wein and David Michelinie, art by Nestor Redondo.

While I’m both enjoying the New 52’s Swamp Thing and re-reading Alan Moore’s past stories, I see there’s is still much to be done in getting to know this great character. Thanks, Mars, for sharing these brilliant images, and letting me know that my re-exploration of ST has only just begun!

Glad you dug those Nestor Redondo splashes, Mark! Better known for his work in Weird War Tales, Redondo blessed us with several Swamp Thing gems. While we consider everything before “The Anatomy Lesson” a mixed bag, dedicated Swampy fans know that many jewels lie waiting to be discovered in that pre-Moore muck-encrusted madness.

Always been more of a Man-Thing fan. Nestor Redondo’s artwork looks familiar, though. Wonder if he ever did anything for Eerie or Creepy?

Nestor Redondo has one Eerie credit we know about: Eerie #136. You might have seen his work in DC anthology titles like House of Mystery, House of Secrets, Secrets of Sinister House, etc. The most complete list of Redondo credits we’ve seen is: http://www.comics.org/credit/name/Nestor%20Redondo/sort/chrono/
Thank you for visiting, Kat! Props to Man-Thing. We’ll share a few of our MT favorites in 2012.
